Cairn Desk (David Grubba)

Q: Why do you have a Brutalist Website?
A: My favorite websites show a direct use of the raw material of web design; i.e. text that is marked up with structuring information. Certain music label websites inspired me in their DIY ethos (often being coded by folks with no other interest in web design, so often designs are brutally efficient). I guess the reason I have a brutalist website is the same reason for starting a totally unmarketable music label. Then someone showed me that Washington Post article; I guess it's a thing now :-].
Some bad ass DIY label sites:

Q: Who designed the website?
A: Cairn Desk is myself and Alec Sturgis. Every project at Cairn Desk goes through a long, totally irrational planning stage, usually conversations and google docs between us. I am the "designer" but really everything just grows out of conversation. Lots of the graphics come out of shared illustrator files that sort of rot/gather dust in the google drive.
Q: Who coded the website?
A: I do the coding. (davidgrubba.info)
Q: With what kind of editor?
A: I use Sublime Text 2 <3
