Q: Why do you have a Brutalist Website?
A: In this project we focused on finding a new publishing model: rietveldacademie.nl/booking. While focussing on one key aspect–a horizontal yet controlled editing system—things became automatically a bit brutalist. We disregarded any elements that were not essential to the functionality of an online exhibition, avoiding a predetermination of dominant frameworks for the works presented by users of the website (students and staff): https://rietveldacademie.nl/nl/page/807/front-page-archive“. The website furthermore grew in steady exchange and close collaboration of designers and developers, which resulted in a somewhat odd and unique aesthetics.
